Updated: 10/05/12 (the “Site”) and the CaliCow voice messaging software application for mobile devices (“App”) are owned by the California Milk Advisory Board (“CMAB” “we” “us” “our”), an instrumentality of the California Department of Food and Agriculture. This Privacy Policy governs our treatment of personally identifiable information that CMAB collects when you visit the Site and/or download the App (and any future Apps offered by CMAB) to your mobile device, and use the services available on the Site and/or through the App (collectively, the “Service”). By visiting the Site or using the App, you accept and agree to the practices contained in this Privacy Policy. CMAB values your privacy and is dedicated to protecting your personal information and providing you with Notice, Consent, Security and Access.


Children: We do not sell or knowingly solicit information from anyone who is under 18. If a child under 13 submits personal information to CMAB and we learn that that personal information is the information of a child under 13, we will attempt to delete the information as soon as possible. Information You Provide: We receive and store any personal information you enter on our Site or as part of downloading and using the App, or give to us in any other way. Such information may include your name, email address, phone number, or voice, image, text, or other social networking communication information. We may also receive information from you from other sources.

Tracking Technology: CMAB logs IP addresses (a unique number assigned to every computer on the Internet) in order to improve security, analyze trends and administer the Site. We may track your movement within the Site, the pages from which you were referred, access times and browser types. We only use this information in aggregate to gauge the effectiveness of our Site, track information for statistical purposes and to improve the products and services we provide and do not link that information to you personally. We store information that we collect through cookies, log files, clear gifs, and/or third-party sources in order, for instance, to verify your address or update your information and to create a “profile” of your preferences. We tie your personally identifiable information to information in the profile, in order to improve the content of the Site for you. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies on this Site. We use session ID cookies and persistent cookies. We use session cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our Site. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. App Contacts Information: As part of your usage of the App, we provide you the opportunity through Facebook to connect automatically with your friends. In addition, we employ and offer other contact importer tools to facilitate adding to your contacts (including, besides Facebook Friends, contacts in your address book) so that you can more readily ask your contacts to join and communicate with you through the App. With your permission, we will access your address book, call log and SMS log, and import your contacts’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, image, geographic location and Facebook IDs to facilitate automatic connection with your friends. We do this only for contact matching to help your friends and you find each other. Also, when you invite friends to the service, we will access your Address Book and we will import your contacts names and phone numbers in order to facilitate the invitation. We also collect some settings that help us to interpret your data, such as the language and keyboard settings that you have established, and the phone’s carrier, mobile network code and mobile country code. If you choose to use the App, please be sure to review the Facebook privacy policy.

To facilitate communications on the App, we may allow other App users to use contact information they have about you, such as your email address or your name, to determine if you are an App user. If you are already an App user, then others can add you to their contact list by choosing your name off of a list of users available via our Service. We make your name available to others to help your Contacts find you.

Mobile Device Communications Content: Content you send to other users via the App (“User Content”) will show up on other user’s devices and these communications are also stored on our database. Even if you remove this content from your device or account, copies of this User Content will remain viewable on the devices of third party users with whom you have communicated and will be stored on our database for a period of time. Therefore you should be aware that User Content that you send to other users cannot be removed from their devices unless the other user removes the data. Also, other users can share any User Content you supply to them.

App Location Information: If you have enabled location services on your phone, we collect your location information to make a map available to the recipients of your messages showing your location. If you do not want this information collected by us, you can disable location services on your phone.

Surveys or Promotions: From time to time we may provide you the opportunity to participate in sweepstakes or other promotions or surveys on our Site, which might be sponsored or conducted by a third party. If you participate, we will request certain personally identifiable information from you. Participation in these promotions or surveys is completely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose this information. The requested information typically includes contact information. If there is a third party sponsor involved please make sure to review that party’s privacy policy.

Third-Party Links: We encourage you to be aware when you leave our Site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies only to information collected on our Site.

Advertisements: We may from time to time use various outside ad-serving companies to serve advertisements across the internet and on our Site. They may collect anonymous information about your visits to the Site and your interaction with our Service. They may also use information about your visits to the Site and other websites to target advertisements for goods and services. This anonymous information is collected through the use of pixel tags or cookies, which are industry standard technologies, used by most major websites. Vendors: We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples might include sending e-mail, analyzing data and providing search results and links.
